Hello World
I finally have a blog!
I think the last time I had a blog was back in 2012, during the Tumblr era. I plan on using this as a place to talk about random thoughts and ideas, science, tech, research, activism, advocacy, projects, business, photography and of course music.
So if this sounds interesting to you, feel free to follow this blog with an RSS/ATOM reader. I recommend Reeder for iOS, it's a really well polished app.
I may occasionally use AI tools to improve textual clarity, as I've been learning yet another language (Swedish), the part of my brain that deals with languages is on fire and I'm struggling to switch back/forth between languages lately. But I promise the content you'll be reading here will be 100% organic, locally grown and human. So if you are considering training your LLM on my blog posts, you may want to read up about low background steel.
For those of you blogging-nerds out there, I decided to use Publii for my blog. As you may or may not know, I'm a big web minimalist, and I try to do everything as simply as possible. Most of the stuff I build is plain HTML/CSS/JS, with no libraries or complex tooling. My website is a bunch of html files which I've designed by hand, and at the moment it's hosted on Cloudflare Pages/Workers. In the spirit of minimalism and simplicity I decided to have a static blog hosted on Cloudflare as well. Publii has S3-compatible static hosting built in. So at the moment, this blog is hosted on Cloudflare R2, and blog.johnozbay.com is simply a domain connected to this R2 bucket. So this was a one-click setup, and I intend to keep it that way. What this means however is that I'll be blogging from my desktop computer when I'm home, where I have Publii set up to simplify life.
I decided to keep things simple, so I won't have any analytics / reactions etc, but at some point I might add basic metrics for fun. Or perhaps if I can come up with a not-so-creepy way, I can add a basic feature to like/heart/comment something etc.
That's all for now,
Thanks for reading stranger!
